One of these days, they will get off their collective arses and do some work.
Meanwhile, I enjoy (yes, I really am) my escape. The fall weather is delightful. I'm cleaning up stuff that has needed to be cleaned and organized for literally years. Is it exciting? Probably not to most folks.
To me, it is freedom, and it doesn't matter how I got it. I saw Giacomo today. It's been a long time. We had coffee and a nice chat about social justice and life in general. He got a new kitchen that's almost done. It's really shaping into something nice.
After I went there, I had to go shopping to make Bubba and Dahey an Indian dinner. The child really likes tandoori and tikka masala. So since I found a nice spice recipe (and Dr. Q. helped me tweak it), I'm using it.
Next, I went by a chocolate shop near Giacomo's office and had one of these. It was heaven.
They may only be small victories, but I appreciate them just the same.
More to come...enjoy whatever your day brings you where you are.

The joys of teamwork
I don't know how my coworker J. kept all the balls in the air when managing projects for our little tech team at BehemothConsumerProducts, where I worked at many moons ago, but I certainly appreciate it now.
Lately, I've been taking on that role in my graduate school classes, which, incidentally, require at least one team project per semester. Add to the excitement: all the members of the team are not necessarily in the same state, or even country. Ah, the joys of online learning.
Nevertheless, I orchestrated a beautiful team plan, divvied out all the tasks and organized meetings online and via phone when needed. I even posted our completed project ahead of the required time.
And while I was enjoying myself at a long awaited celebration with one of my nurse friends, one of the teammates got wigged out over one little thing.
Happily, I was able to smooth it over with the instructor, and get everything settled.
Only one thing remains: said nurse needs a psych consult. I can't diagnose it, but someone definitely may need a prescribed chill pill.
So glad the semester is over. CJ, one of my other classmates, an escaped rehab nurse from down south (now a tech trainer), and I celebrated by phone, by lifting our well-deserved glasses of pinot grigio in our respective places. We survived another semester of grad school. Happy, happy, happy.
And now I return to the last full day of vacation. Reality hits again next week...hope I'm ready.

Lift, load, upload and loaf
Happy Monday from the land of ahhs! Ah! I turned in that paper I was working on this weekend, in between loading up my iTunes on this laptop. I just never got around to it a month ago because school started and I had other technical issues to resolve.
Now I've got a lot of very wonderful stuff from ABBA to Van Halen to Vladimir Horowitz. Dahey has a huge collection of all sorts of stuff, so I'm just loading up, including the Christmas music (can't find any Hannukah or other holiday stuff anywhere right now.)
The loading happened earlier today when I went in the storage area and started taking out all the stuff I triaged and set aside to give to charity. Loaded up the battle wagon twice and got a good chunk done today. Put some big items up for sale, so we'll see how that goes.
The loafing...a nice, uninterrupted bath and a book. It didn't last too long, but it was nice.
More to come...stay tuned!
