Still...

Silent waters run deep, and since the flood waters are still about in RehabLand, we're paying attention.

No unnecessary water use and water conservation is the status almost a week into all this neighboring excitement. We are doing our part, which Bubba loves, since he thinks he'll melt if he takes too many baths. I've cut down laundry to one load as needed (when someone panicked because he thought he was out of underwear and socks) and I only do dishes when I fill up the dishwasher, then on eco or one hour mode.

We'll live reusing most of the towels and sheets. We are lucky. We are dry. Many of our neighbors a few miles away are not.

It is so much to be grateful for today.

More later.

Here comes the rain again

April showers do bring May flowers, but after those showers get mixed in with tornado watches and warnings, I get a little edgy. It fits the mood, though. I'm still a little melancholy after this week.

Thankfully, the latest tornado watch was called off so Bubba could go to his track meet, hang out and have fun while Dahey and I had a date night. We went to a neighborhood I grew up in (which has since become moderately gentrified) to a restaurant I've wanted to try. It was nostalgia: some things change and some things stay the same. Thankfully, the food was good, the beer was cold, and the various games were on the (baseball, hockey, etc.) TV so Dahey could follow along.

Since we were on a nostalgia trek, Dahey decided to drive to a shopping mall we walked in a lot while we were dating. A lot of stores are gone, but some old reliables got bigger. They even got an Apple Store in this particular mall. Which of course, made Dahey want a new phone. Thankfully, his problems can be resolved by sending his phone in for repair, which will be done this week (thank goodness!)

Now, I'm back to doing my volunteer homework. Sometimes this is a time-consuming activity, but other times, it's a lot of fun.

Enjoy your weekend wherever you are!

Bonding with Bubba

Oh, the fun and excitement of living with a tween boy who is spring break staycationing.

1. Bubba thinks he's immune to taking baths or showers (and he loves swimming). I'm reminding him that he really does need to clean the cracks and crevices more than he does.

2. Since Dahey had to work, I took him to soccer. His team lost. He was sad. Dahey got updates via text and phone, though. The team got lots of shots, but nothing would go into the goal.

3. We took my sister out to lunch. Both of them are never happier than in an eating establishment. No one is ever bored with food around.

4. Movies are on the agenda, but since it was later in the day when we got home, I decided to hold off on seeing  Mr. Peabody and Sherman, but we had to get Thor.

I was so tired from my crazy week, I promptly feel asleep during most of the movie.

Ah, togetherness...
