It's that time of year again. So far, I don't feel tired. I'm sure I will tomorrow.
Bubba and Dahey were helping a friend move this weekend, so it really threw off my normal schedule of errands. Thankfully, I was able to finish up most of them today, while they laid around the house. To celebrate the end of the week, I decided to cook a nice dinner. I made it myself since Junior Chef Bubba passed out on the couch when he was watching TV earlier. Of course, the child wakes up AFTER all the prep work is done.
It's been warm and sunny, so I'm enjoying every minute. I sat outside for coffee today and I walked two miles yesterday. So on my breaks (someone has to do all this stuff around here) when I'm not outside, I'm checking Cake Wrecks, and watching silly dog videos. It makes me miss WildDog.
Stay tuned and hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, wherever you are!

For Phil tomorrow...
Yes, folks, it's one of the ONLY days of the year that we watch rodents with pomp and circumstance. It's Groundhog Day eve.
It is Super Bowl Sunday, but you have to admit, Groundhog Day is pretty fun, too, even without multimillion dollar commercials. So lots of sites, like Cake Wrecks, are celebrating Phil and all the other furry characters around the country who will be busy prognosticating early tomorrow morning.
And if it's not on in your area, check out the classic movie Groundhog Day.
I will be thinking of all of you, because I'll be hoping my day (and yours) doesn't keep replaying and that someone predicts an early spring.
Happy Groundhog Day to all...

The tradition..super
The reason women don't play football is because eleven of them would never wear the same outfit in public. ~Phyllis Diller
For many years, I actually got paid to watch Super Bowl commercials thanks to a guy named Bob and a job in a marketing department. (That was fun!)
Since I left that job almost a decade ago, now I just have to watch the commercials from home. When I first became a nurse, it seemed like my weekend to work was literally EVERY Super Bowl Sunday. So since I'm not there anymore, it was no surprise that the nurse manager (only half jokingly) asked if I wanted to work today.
It seems no one wants to work Super Bowl Sunday if they can be at home partying it up. Sometimes we get volunteers coming in for Super Bowl, but not always.
Nevertheless, the rehab nurses at the Hotel can totally love this Super Bowl cake photo. It will describe their evening shift...thanks to Cake Wrecks.
Stay tuned...and have a Supper bowl wherever you are.

Thank you Susie
Who ever you are. One of our patients owns a bakery and liked the care he got on our unit so much that to repay the nurses, he brings in pastries of all sorts regularly.
The latest one: one of his bakers made a mistake on a huge, chocolate-covered strawberry birthday cake. He put "Happy 50th Birthday Susie" on the cake. Lo and behold, Susie was only turning 40 at her birthday party...oops! It would have made CakeWrecks proud.
So one of our nurses, who's getting ready to retire, volunteered to be Susie (and pulled out the plates), so we could cut the cake. We even sang to her. If only they didn't ban video at the Hotel, or we'd have had a fine one for YouTube.
It was absolutely divine, and as a result, I'll still need to work on doing more 30 minute workouts this week. The agony!
More to come...when Sam brings another cake...stay tuned!

A sweet tribute
I love Cake Wrecks. As an amateur cook/baker/decorator, this is one of my favorite sites out there.
So I really enjoyed the latest version of Sunday Sweets, where they feature really cool cakes. Check out this week's version dedicated to police, fire, ambulance AND medical personnel, including nurses.
Hope you do too! More later...
