Hope you are enjoying your day. It's cold, cloudy, and snowing today the first day of Spring.
Mother Nature is surely a jokester.
That is all...more later.

Happy Easter
And if you don't celebrate Easter, I wish you a blessed Passover. Don't celebrate that either? If you were here in RehabLand today, it was glorious. Enjoy the spring weather wherever you are. It only comes once a year.
I didn't fall off the earth, I got a little busy this week exercising and watching various astronomical phenomena, like a little space station buzzing by and the latest Blood Moon.
Bubba, Dahey and I finally went out for the brunch that was so rudely interrupted by a terrible virus for Dahey's birthday weekend last weekend. It was a good coincidence that it was Easter, since I was fortunate enough to excuse myself from galley slavery with some of my relatives. That felt just as glorious as the weather. Since we went to one of our favorite pizzerias last night, we had leftovers for dinner so I did no cooking AT ALL. Ah! My idea of a wonderful day.
I did have a temporary lapse when I decided to thoroughly vacuum and mop all the floors upstairs. I corralled Dahey and Bubba in the basement, so I got to enjoy the quiet and drying when the floors were done. For one, brief, shining moment (in a house where everyone must wear shoes with a soon-to-be teenager who is constantly eating) they were clean.
Now, we're getting ready for the big chamber music night at Bubba's neighborhood junior high. He's going to play this song with some other brass players. Sounds like it will be a tuneup for the Spring Concert in a few weeks and the auditions for the symphony and jazz band groups. Bubba was so excited to wear a suit to church today, that I will be very surprised if he doesn't go formal for the next concert. He looks very longingly at some of those tuxedos when we are out shopping.
Work is still work. I have to go back for a full week tomorrow. I need a day off every week to motivate me, but I don't think that will ever happen. It would be nice, though. I'd like to know if I'm going to get another job at the Hotel, but with my luck (and our illustrious HR department), I'll be waiting six more weeks to find out. Nothing ever happens fast.
I'm going to stop here. All the cleaning and fun have made me tired today. I bid you all a good night wherever you are.
Stay tuned...

Welcome spring
As I write this, it thundering very loudly. The daffodils that were up and showy yesterday, are cowed beneath the rains of today.
I woke up this morning to a chorus of sneezes from Bubba. Dahey just snored away as usual.
Every tree in our neighborhood has buds erupting. So we're keeping all the windows shut tight.
In RehabLand, it's another day in early spring.
More to come...

Warm, sunny weekend
Yes! The snow is melting and it's a beautiful day in RehabLand.
Now back to the boring land of housework, aka the perils of working Monday through Friday.
Enjoy your day wherever you are.

For Phil tomorrow...
Yes, folks, it's one of the ONLY days of the year that we watch rodents with pomp and circumstance. It's Groundhog Day eve.
It is Super Bowl Sunday, but you have to admit, Groundhog Day is pretty fun, too, even without multimillion dollar commercials. So lots of sites, like Cake Wrecks, are celebrating Phil and all the other furry characters around the country who will be busy prognosticating early tomorrow morning.
And if it's not on in your area, check out the classic movie Groundhog Day.
I will be thinking of all of you, because I'll be hoping my day (and yours) doesn't keep replaying and that someone predicts an early spring.
Happy Groundhog Day to all...

Snow again
I'm really going to appreciate spring and summer this year.
I never thought I'd see the day when I thought freezing (32F) was warm.
Ugh!

Really spring?
Yes, we're having a snowstorm in RehabLand. Who could think of a better way for us to appreciate spring when it gets here? (Those crazy meteorologists.) Anywho...here are a few goodies I ran into once I got off the slick roads and out of the grocery store today. (I had to get my triple coupons!)
Since the groundhog predictions of an early spring are off, some litigious folks in Ohio want to get Phil. Thank you BBC for being on the mark for this important story.
Grumpy has a weekend rerun ALL nurses will enjoy. Thanks for thinking of us Grumpy. I'd stash you a Diet Coke, anytime!
Yet another problem: how to tell if the new iPad you just bought is really in the box. Hard to believe this could have happened at a major retailer, but if it's worth something, people will try to steal it.

Signs you know the weekend is near...
1. Your NP traveling friend is growling a lot and the bags under her eyes have suitcases.
2. Everyone is saying, "Is it Friday yet?"
3. The heat was turned off in the building (or it seemed that way, anyway).
One more day...

The first day of Spring
Yes, it's spring on the calendar, but you can't tell in RehabLand. It's freezing!
I went to the allergist for the first time in a LONG time. (my personal rite of spring). Discovered that I really do need to change up my meds so I can be less stuffy, or at least have a less stuffy nose.
Even though it was cold, I stood outside waiting by PrivateU to get lunch from a food truck. Not just any food truck but an exceptional Asian fusion one. To top it off, a pink cupcake truck was parked nearby.
Life really is sweet...and lunch was surely wonderful today.
Stay tuned...more to come.

Mutiny
That's the way it's getting to be in the Hotel. I thank my lucky stars I'm not on the floor anymore. It's just too ugly. I don't think I could stand it. The insolence some days is so thick, it's as if a fog has rolled inside. Add to that some crazy allied health people who are in trouble with HR and it's even more exciting.
The SU's been plenty busy. We're getting clinics up and running and upgrading equipment. I even get to share my spot with some very expensive equipment (haven't done that in ages!).
Spring is here again and soon, it will be very busy. Lots of people are antsy and wanting to go home.
We'll see how it goes...
More to come.

Things I'd really like to say
To the hyperspazz out-of-wedlock pregnant idiot I work with:
"Hello, getting psycho just because it's the end of the shift isn't going to help anything when I ask you to do something for your patient. You're not the only one who's busy."
To the two people who called in "sick" today on a beautiful, spring, first day of baseball kind of day:
"You two are jerks. Karma's a bitch. I can't wait for it to bite you in the arse."
To the two ambulance drivers who took my patient to an out-of-network appointment and waited for him when his procedure was delayed:
"Yes, I know I thanked you, but I wish I could give you a bonus. Mikey really did like you guys."
To the legislators who are holding up the passage of the Federal budget:
"I don't care who you are. If you want me to come to work, you'd better pay me. And if I don't get paid, you and every last one of your staff, aides, etc., shouldn't either. You people are losers. F*&ing with nurses (and the ancillary employees we need around to do our jobs) is not the way to solve problems. I just might mail a bowel program scented letter to you."

It's snowing again...
Okay, that's not this song but even though the calendar says spring, it's snowing in RehabLand.
What fun!

Spring break, yes!
Finally! Grad school is closed! No homework this week. A little related reading for next week's assignment, but no time crunch to finish all the homework by 5PM on Friday.
What a way to celebrate the first day of Spring! If not, just find something pretty like these Sunday Sweets. Give me a daisy or two, or that lily-of-the-valley one...lovely!

The joys of winter
A new week is ready to begin and I see a mess coming on. Why, you ask?
The infamous Alberta Clipper will be sailing back to RehabLand and bringing more ice and snow with it. So tomorrow morning, I look forward to a bumper crop of phone calls to reschedule all the appointments for a good chunk of this week.
Spring will not get here soon enough.

Happy, happy, joy, joy
The latest semester of grad school is finally over.
Dahey and I celebrated by going out to eat and I had a very lovely sangria. We had dinner at a hip restaurant with some of these funky bar stools. Afterwards, we marched around the neighborhood sampling at a few of the stores, and then we sat out on a patio with a coffee and an espresso version of these treats while the weather was lovely.
More to come....

Spring has sprung
There's no patio furniture outside, but with all the stretchers and wheelchairs on the back patio, you'd think we were having a party.
At least, it keeps people out of trouble...and gets some of the nurses outside on "business". It's rough when you have to eat your lunch with a patient outside.
More to come...stay tuned

Spring cleaning
I've made a few changes here and there, especially to blog links. If your blog was there and was inadvertently deleted, let me know.
My verification system: go check the links. No blog anymore = no link.
This is highly variable, as I am still working on my required caffeine intake this morning on my coffee break in between patients.
Wanna link here? Let me know.
