Technical difficulties, please stand by

This is the story of my life. Had I not lived one already in tech, I'd be crying every night. One step forward, two steps back. This place isn't the 'market leader' it used to be...at least not at the Hotel.

Contemplating a different sort of rehab spot for the future if this doesn't get any better. I tell myself everyday I'll give our new boss one year in the job before I move, but at the rate it's going, I may just move early (like him/her, hate the BS).

To be continued...

Hope turns to sadness

This patient's journey to us for rehab was long and arduous. One day you're minding your own business and start having these unusual pains. They find out you have this terrible condition.

The doctors save your life, but it was rough. You seem to be getting better when all Hades breaks loose. You go back to the OR, get almost triple digits of PRBCs, and abdominal washout and have all sorts of complications. You lose so many things. But you are here with us, so you are hopeful.

You come to us, are barely here a week, and we have to send you to World Renown, because we aren't staffed (in surgery or anywhere else) to resolve your latest issue. Unfortunately, we have seen this scenario before. You have a problem even World Renown can't fix. They send you back.

They leave us to tell you the bad news. You cry and yell. But to me and the other nurses, you are nice. You're not sure of what's going to happen, but I tell you, that no matter what I'm here with the staff for you to help give you some control in your room; to help you do what you need to do.

It is bittersweet. I have seen this before, and while the characters change, the stories all end the same. I just hope we can make some good memories before the clock runs out.

Stay tuned.

TGMG (Thank goodness Monday's nearly Gone)

Every day begins with an act of courage and hope: getting out of bed.~  Mason Cooley

Yes, it was courageous in RehabLand today because it's cold again. I am happy it was not as cold as Sunday, or that my sister-in-law's holiday wish (snow) did not come true. Bubba needs to go to school as long as possible.

I worked on a lot of weird stuff because I may be relocating soon due to construction. Our business manager returned from medical leave recently, so I'm hoping the construction manager will give her information on when that might take place.

I just love being in limbo.

Stay tuned...

Scary Halloween

Things that are scary on Halloween at the Hotel Rehab:

1. Doll eyes on a patient.
2. Change management strategies as cuts loom on the horizon.
3. Rain.

Tomorrow is another day. Hope your day is goblin-free!

Sometimes, I wonder

We're up for a big inspection soon and the Big Boss has an all-hands meeting.

He/she basically says, "Well, it probably won't be good." and doesn't tell us much anything else. WT...?

Thankfully, we have enough people who've been around long enough that they asked good questions and got more information out him/her. It was not very promising.

Yes, he/she hasn't been at the Hotel forever, but you'd think he/she might learn a few tips on how to be not only a good, but better leader.

I'm just gonna cross my fingers and pray...stay tuned.
