Junior high excitement

Bubba is learning the ropes and discovering things I never though he would.

Like how to find your lost ID in the computer lab, how to buy pizza every day for lunch (one of the perks of junior high) and how to negotiate the neighborhood on foot.

Since they get extra points for attending the local high school football games (by sitting with the band-music points), he's learning about those, too.

Fun times in the land of the pre-teen....more later.

Lazy Sunday

Bubba and Dahey are already watching the Olympics and British football. If we had multiple TVs in the living room, it would look like a sports bar.

My DVD player is finally working, so I'm filling iTunes up again. For exercise, I'm jumping up every time the timer goes off on the dryer (what nurse DOESN'T multitask at home?).

Sunday Stealing is about Valentine's Day (coming up on Friday). Want to answer the meme? Head on over...

Pondering the week to come...will be a crazy busy one. Hope we don't get any more snow to mess things up.

Stay tuned...

Your sense of smell

Some things just stink. Your favorite team doesn't win a football, baseball or soccer game.

However these recent news stories had me wondering where the bad odors could be coming from.

Think the litter box needs emptying? Maybe it's just your laptop according to Dell. (courtesy of the BBC)

Can the smell of the famous "rooster sauce" (aka sriracha) cause headaches? Some people think so. (from the LA Times).

And you thought things were rough listening to Grandma's Lawrence Welk. Those darned Somali pirates can't handle this woman's music. (from www.military.com --thanks to my astute active duty brother-in-law).

Enjoy! More to come...

There must be glue on my chair

I just do not want to get up today.

Too much Scrabble and other computer pursuits...must get going! Too many things to do before going back to work!

And Bubba is ensconced by the TV waiting for football with his donuts.

Yes, indeed, it is Sunday.

Stay tuned.

It's been that kind of a day

A B-52s kind of day to be exact. Dahey decided it would be the music du jour as I was finishing up some stuff before heading back to the office tomorrow.

So in between cooking dinner, watching every sport that's on (football and hockey) and pumpkin pie (yes it's Bubba's favorite), I'm gonna do this in a little bit, just to get some time for me.

Roam if you want to...'til next time!

Crazy

Bubba has been a mess lately. As a diagnosed sports nut, he is getting up early to check ESPN for all the sports scores before school. Baseball, football (college and pro) and hockey...it's all going on right now. Heavens!

Unfortunately, this caused him to misinterpret the news (in his sleep deprived haze) "Mom, my favorite player, Michael Jackson died."

"No, dear. Your favorite player is Michael Jordan, not Jackson."

Go back to bed!

It won't be any better at the Hotel. We have that illness, too--sports overload sweeping the unit.

Ugh...stay tuned.

In the news...

Warning: Leaving a rehab nurse to her own devices to surf the 'net while the educators debate over who's doing the central line checkoff at the preceptor fest may lead to some Internet entertainment.

I had no idea...
I just found out the Ken doll was discontinued in 2004 (What did Barbie need him for anyway?) Never fear, doll aficianados, Ken is back...and he'll resemble a football player. W.T....?

Anywho, for all you Iowa State Cyclones, Kenny's gonna look like this character who won a contest.

Somehow...
I don't think this recent study featured in Reuters is going to keep any of our folks at the Hotel from requesting Viagra et al. That surely didn't stop Mr. D. from asking recently, even though his wife died years ago.

Yes, sex can kill you, US study shows

I think maybe he's just going to ask for more bran muffins and salads, if eating fiber really can reduce heart disease (from UPI)

So...
If I'm going to eat today, it's gonna be comfort food. Maybe not the recipe in this article, but it's going to be good.

Stay tuned...

A dad and lad kind of day

I'm so happy that I didn't have to do much. Dahey took Bubba to the dentist (two baby teeth are finally ready to come out...very close) and both of us went this afternoon to our regular dentist Mitch, who I've seen since 1980-something. It's been so long, I've forgotten how long.

Bubba shrieked and ran into the room a minute ago, when he saw the football game (the last game on Tuesday night was in 1946 BTW). What might do that? A crazed mascot? A crazed Philly fan flinging frozen TastyKakes on the field? Nope...it was Santa.

And here you thought the blizzard of 2010 only delayed flights. Apparently, Santa was delayed, too. Dad and lad are all snuggled on the couch, watching the game.

Stay tuned...momma gets a day all to herself tomorrow.
