If it's Sunday...
Here in RehabLand, it's time for Sunday Stealing. This week's meme is about time (and will cause you another earworm, if you're not careful).
Here are my responses, which I would have posted earlier, but hey, with that extra hour, I've already gotten lots of work done. It will get dark soon enough, so I'll be turning in early for all the excitement as the week starts tomorrow.
Enjoy! ============================================================================================================================== 1) Do you think Daylight Saving Time is still necessary?
To sell lightbulb and batteries, yes. For me personally, no. I just like it to be light in the morning, which will last for a bit, so...not really.
2) How long does it take you to adjust to the time change?
Not long on fall back. That spring forward messes me up.
3) What's the hardest part of the time change?
None.
4) How many clocks are in your house?
Too many. I'm really enjoying the auto-set ones.
5) Are you generally early, late, or on time?
I hate being late, so I am most often early or on time.
6) If an invitation to an event listed the time as 8-11pm, what time would you arrive?
By 8, and be gone by 11.
7) Do you wear a watch?
Yes, every day.
8) Have you ever glanced at the time and had to glance again because you didn't pay attention the first time?
Of course!
9) Are most of your clocks digital or dial?
Mixed.
10) What does your alarm clock sound like?
A foghorn. It's ancient, but the new ones are too nice, and I sleep right through them.
11) Do you use the snooze feature on your alarm clock?
No. I purposely put the alarm far enough away that I have to get up to turn it off.
12) Does clock ticking drive you nuts?
Yes, this is why I don't have a clock in the room I work in (SU). If it's quiet (after all the patients are going while I'm charting) and it ticks, it drives me crazy.

Got an earworm?
You will with this Sunday Stealing.
This is the latest meme available this week at Sunday Stealing, since it's almost someone's birthday over there.
1. as you get older, are you jazzed about your birthday?
Yes,and no.
2. do people usually remember your birthday?
Most people do.
3. an ex-coworker used to begin 3 mos. before her birthday flat-out reminding us that it was coming up. it's amazing what no self-esteem does for you. anyway, do you know anyone who pre-announces their birthdays?
I don't preannounce, but I try to take a vacation day every year on my birthday. If it follows close to or on a weekend (like this year), I make it a three day weekend. (Only Bubba can make it four. His falls very often on a Federal holiday).
4. what was your best birthday? why?
I had a party as a kid (I think I was 7) with tons of people and lots of food in our little house. Not sure how my mother did it, but we had fun.
5. what was your worst birthday? why?
Can't recall any. Some are better than others.
6. name your best birthday gift.
Hmm...hard one. One year I got an engagement ring right after my birthday.
7. name the best birthday gift you've gotten for someone else.
I like surprises. Totally throws people off.
8. as i age, i value SLEEP as a priceless commodity. i didn't get any for my birthday, however. what do you want this year for your birthday?
Sleep is good, so is a trip to the spa for a day, and a relaxing evening with Dahey and something fun for Bubba to do.
A raise would also be nice. I'm hoping that really happens, since I'm up for a promotion.
Yes, that Beatles Birthday song is going through my head...

Random randomness
Today's Sunday Stealing. Here's my answers to the questions below. Head on over there and try them for yourselves!
How did you choose your baby's or pet's names?
WildDog came with his name. Bubba's name I picked out. I told Dahey to look at whatever name he liked but that since I was giving birth, I had the first right of refusal.
He's a smart man who figured out that "happy wife, happy life" thing early.
Have you ever been fishing?
Yes, many times. On land mostly, but a couple of times in a boat.
Have you ever had your national flag painted on your face?
No.
What makes you nostalgic?
Hearing old songs (those 1980s ones are nostalgic to me, kids!)
What's the scariest thing you've ever done?
Walk across a suspension bridge in Canada.
What fairy tale character would you most associate with?
Some days Robin Hood, other days, Snow White (always cleaning up something!)
What's the worst piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
Don't follow your dreams. (really bad) You just take a longer route to get there.
If you had to describe yourself as a flavor, what would it be?
Chocolate (of course). Probably a nice, smooth dark chocolate. Some may say I'm bitter, but I'm just sweet enough for everyone else.
If you had to describe yourself as a car, what would it be?
A reliable sport edition sedan. Works well with a lot of people, safe, gets you where you are going. Looks nice. And has enough oomph to roll with the bigg'uns when needed.
Do you think laughing at someone else's misfortune is wrong?
Yes, but as they say Karma's a b&*th!

First day of fall
Yes, it will be fall (according to Bubba, this happens this afternoon...) and the folks at Sunday Stealing have the Fall/Autumn Meme today. Here are my answers to some of them below.
Feel free to have fun and play along!
First of all, is autumn your favorite season? Why or why not?
It depends, because I really like spring, too.
Is it ‘autumn’ or ‘fall’, to you?
Fall. Autumn. Whatever floats your boat.
What kind of weather does your area get during this season?
Cool days and nights.
Which leaf color is your favorite?
I have a weakness for red ones (usually from maples), but I like yellow and orange ones, too.
Is it still fun to rake the leaves and jump in piles of them?
YES! It reminds me of childhood and a book I read as a kid about the neighbors having a big bonfire, burning leaves and putting potatoes in the fire to cook.
When can you really tell that it’s autumn?
When the leaves turn.
What is your favorite dessert for this time of year?
Apple crisp or anything with pumpkin.
Is your Thanksgiving Day in October or November, if you even celebrate it?
I celebrate every Thanksgiving whether it's in October or November. I'm usually off around that time in October (no one wants it) so I bake a pie in solidarity with my old friends in Canada, who I miss terribly, but call and think about often. Thank goodness for Facebook!
If you do celebrate it, where do you usually have Thanksgiving dinner?
At my house.
What color do you always associate with autumn?
Orange.
Is there a song that always reminds you of this season?
Autumn Leaves (the version) by Eva Cassidy (or the Cannonball Addersley version is also nice).
Do you spend a lot of time outside during this time of the year?
Depends.
How can you tell that fall is over?
Snow.
What is a typical autumn outfit that you wear?
Sweater and jeans.
Do you hate it when stores start promoting Christmas early?
YES!
What is your favorite thing about this season?
Cool (not cold) weather.

It's back again since it's Sunday
This one is various questions from today's version here:
What would you choose to be famous for?
I would like to be a famous philanthropist. Since my chances right now are slim to none, I'll take the Nurse of the Year in the HotelRehab group.
If you have a webcam, are you ever paranoid people can see you?
I turn mine off and block the view. That's all I'm saying. I'm very opinionated about this. Don't get me started!
Do you find it difficult to sleep at night? Any reason(s) why?
Yes, my husband often steals my covers.
If you had to go on a game show, which would you choose?
Jeopardy.
What about if you had to go on a reality show?
I would not do a reality show. Just don't like them.
Which would you choose then?
See above.
Tell me about your favorite TV show:
I love the news...always different.
Why were you last irritated?
Driving gets me going some days. I'm glad I had a good day, today.
What time did you get up this morning?
0545. My body clock says that's sleeping in on weekends.
Do you like the countryside?
Yes, in winter.
Do you think you’d make a good model?
Depends on what you want me to model. I'd make a dandy scrubs model.
Would you ever want to be one?
Not really,
How often do you change your hairstyle?
I mix it up every so often. No idea how often. Sometimes it's the cut, other times, color.
Do you have a favorite day of the week? Which is it?
Sunday. Of course!

The latest Sunday Stealing
Here's the latest from Sunday Stealing called Collapse. Enjoy!
Have you ever clicked on an ad on the side of your screen by accident?
Of course (they put the links in the darnedest places!)
When was the last time you were disappointed?
Hmm. Happens regularly, but I don't count.
Do you like the smell of rain?
Yes. Especially in summer.
What was the last thing you took a picture of?
My child Bubba.
When you go to McDonald's, what drink do you usually get?
Depends. I usually drink water wherever I go.
What's the nickname of your home state?
Can't tell, but some people find it annoying.
What's the worst type of weather in your opinion?
Any extremes. I love it when it's about 60-65 degrees and partly cloudy to sunny.
Do you have a Kindle, Nook, iPad or none?
iPad.
Would you rather read or write?
Writing is my choice, but I love reading, too.
When was the last time someone took a picture of you?
Yesterday.
Do you own a pair of slippers?
Technically, yes. Let's just call them house shoes. I wear them around the house, including going outside in them. I think of slippers as fluffy and can't handle concrete or grass.
Is your house currently hot, cold or just right?
Just right. I love programmable thermostats!
Is there a Dead End road near where you live?
Yes. A few.
Do you roll your eyes often?
Not really. That drives me nuts!
Growing up, did you see your cousins often?
Fairly often.
Where was your first job at?
I was a church secretary.
Is life a party to you?
Mostly, when it's not work.
Who are you tired of seeing in the news a lot?
Just depends on the day. Kimye is way up there on my list, and all the related stories. Don't even get me started...
When was the last time you flew a kite?
How long have you had a blog?
Forever. Officially, I've had one since Blogger started.
Have you ever had to call and complain about a product you bought?
Yes, but social media is so much more effective now...and it works!
Name something positive you love about yourself.
I am positive the majority of the time.

Sunday stealing
Here's an interesting one this week called Currently. Sums up my weekend, so I hope you enjoy!
Thinking about:
My week at work starting tomorrow.
Feeling:
Tired, anxious, not ready.
Reading:
A health care book that's actually interesting.
Listening to:
Nothing at the moment.
Wondering:
Will I get time to eat lunch at one of my favorite eateries tomorrow (have a class near one).
Looking forward to:
Friday, because vacation is coming soon!
Missing:
Family and friends who are no longer with us.
Watching:
Nothing. I'm hanging on the internet.
Eating:
Nothing at the moment. Just brushed my teeth.
Making me happy:
Life in general. Some things are a pain, but I'm not complaining!

Sunday silliness
Ah, the joys of bubble wrap. If only I really could do this, I'd take some to work tomorrow.
So if you don't have any on hand, don't fret. Virtual bubble wrap has been online for ages! (thank goodness!) The wonderful folks there even have an Android app and a desktop version for all of you looking for some therapeutic communication tools to use at home (check with your local IT folks if you want to try this in the break room at your hospital 'cause it may be verboten!)
If none of those are nearly annoying enough, check out the Insane version (and crank your speakers). Need help? Check out this video from CBS earlier this year about a world record bubble wrap session.
If all that bubble wrap popping doesn't work, check out Sunday Stealing's Three Wishes meme. Here are some of my answers below. Enjoy your day and your week wherever you are!
What is your dream career? Philanthropist with a flexible schedule.
If you had a dragon what would you name it? Angus (seems like a good dragon name) or something Slavic and about 9-12 letters long, like Bronislav.
What do you put on hot dogs? Ketchup, mustard and relish.
What's your favorite way to get inspired? Roam aimlessly, walking around or driving in my car listening to music.
If you could go back in time would you and why? There are so many places I'd want to go. I'd want to meet relatives who died when I was young or before I was born. I'd like to meet my parents as teenagers, and I'd like to see some friends again when they were younger (before I knew them). I'd also love to go back to the Hotel in the old days, to see what a "new" rehab hospital was like.
Would you rather be rich or healthy? I've tried healthy (reasonably speaking) so I'd like to try stinking rich, but, if I got that philanthropy job, I'd probably already be rich (or at least get paid to give away money to good causes, which would be a lot of fun.)

Yes, that's right. It's been a LONG time since I wandered over to this blog, so I figured I'd throw my hat in the ring and answer some of those burning questions. (only burning if I forgot to turn off the stove...)
Here they are...enjoy the weekend while you can (what's left). I'll be ironing.

Ah, yes, the crazy meme blog. I've missed ye not because I didn't want to visit, but I've been busy.
Here are some good ones for this weekend here and my abbreviated version below.
What if you came across a backpack stuffed with one hundred thousand dollars. Would you keep it?
Heck no! I know exactly where they send you if you do, and it's not worth the sentence frankly. I would be trotting it to whomever owned it or the nearest police station--with a witness and I'd get a receipt.
What if you were the most powerful person in the world. How would you use that power?
Gee, so many things you could do. I'd probably start small and see what happens. World peace and ending starvation are pretty big tasks. I've always wanted to grow up to be a full-time philanthropist!
I have a list of people I'd like to meet and a list of people who I'd like to ask for advice. They're not the same for a reason.
What if you found a magic lamp?
Ask these questions my mother taught me: Does it go with the current decor? How much would it take to redo the decor so the lamp would fit? What does the genie look like and what is his/her offer?
So many darned decisions. :)
What if the internet didn't exist?
Ack! I'd still be in my very first job if it didn't. Or I'd spend lots of money on phone calls and expedited mail! And I would not be in the job I am in today. I did a lot of research on the internet before I became a nurse.
What if you never started blogging?
I would have never encountered some of the interesting people I've met online. Or I'd be in jail for killing some of the idiots I've worked with. Blogging is cheap therapy, kids.
Write out your frustrations, let go, keep growing and look back later. Evaluating yourself later is not a bad thing. It prompts something called growth.
What are your November 22 Thanksgiving plans?
Eat, drink and be merry (and I'll be cooking!) There is so much to be thankful for this year in spite of the craziness of the past year.
